About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Handle temperature scales that differ by both interval and zero point. Conversion passes through Celsius, and physically impossible values below −273.15 °C produce an error instead of a plausible-looking result.

How to use

  1. Enter a numeric temperature and set its source to C, F, or K.
  2. Select the desired target scale.
  3. Read the converted number with its °C, °F, or K unit label.

Common questions
Why is 0 K rejected after conversion from some values?

Zero Kelvin itself is accepted. Values that correspond to less than −273.15 °C are rejected because they are below absolute zero.

Why is Fahrenheit not just a multiplication?

Fahrenheit has a different zero point as well as degree size, so conversion requires both the 32-degree offset and the 9/5 factor.
