Are YAML comments carried into JSON?

No. JSON has no comment syntax, and conversion serializes data values rather than preserving YAML presentation details.

Can YAML values exceed what JSON can represent?

Some YAML tags and scalar types may have no exact JSON equivalent. Review converted values, especially dates and custom tags, before using them.
