About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Create standard bcrypt password hashes with a fresh random salt and an explicit work factor. The 72-byte UTF-8 input limit is enforced instead of allowing silent truncation.

How to use

  1. Enter a password of no more than 72 UTF-8 bytes.
  2. Choose cost 10, 12, or 14 based on your performance requirements.
  3. Generate and copy the complete bcrypt hash, including its salt and cost.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Why does the same password produce a different hash?

bcrypt generates a new random salt for every hash. Compatible verification still succeeds because the salt and cost are stored in the output.

Which cost factor should I choose?

Benchmark on your own server and choose a tolerable verification time. Higher cost slows verification and attacks but also consumes more legitimate server resources.
