About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Prepare markup examples and text for safe display in HTML. Encoding replaces ampersands, angle brackets, and quotes; the extended mode also represents non-ASCII characters as hexadecimal numeric references.

How to use

  1. Paste HTML-like text or entity-encoded content.
  2. Choose basic encoding, extended non-ASCII encoding, or decoding.
  3. Copy the result; decoding reports unsupported named entities instead of silently altering them.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Does encoding make arbitrary HTML safe in every context?

No. Entity encoding is appropriate for text and quoted attribute content, but URLs, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML parsing contexts require their own safety rules.

Which named entities can be decoded?

Common entities including amp, lt, gt, quot, apos, nbsp, copy, reg, and hellip are supported, along with decimal and hexadecimal numeric references.
