About this tool

Made for the task at hand.

Build the credential portion of HTTP Basic authentication without corrupting non-ASCII characters. Input is split at the first colon, so passwords may contain additional colons.

How to use

  1. Enter credentials as username:password.
  2. Generate the UTF-8 Base64-encoded header.
  3. Copy the Authorization line and transmit it only over secure HTTPS connections.
Your work stays yours.
Tool inputs are processed locally in your browser and are never sent to KitVerse servers. Clear the workspace when using a shared device.
Common questions
Does Basic authentication encrypt credentials?

No. Base64 is reversible encoding, not encryption. Use HTTPS and avoid sharing or storing generated headers in insecure locations.

Can the password contain a colon or Unicode?

Yes. Only the first colon separates the username and password, and the complete original input is encoded as UTF-8 before Base64.
